During the Korean War, Chinese officials accused the US of initiating germ warfare. In response, China launched its first Patriotic Health plan, focused on ridding China of diseases like cholera, bubonic plague, and typhoid fever. This began the Chinese government’s propaganda campaign to connect public health to patriotism and the war against imperialism.
